Outcrossing is done in order to increase the genepool and health of the breed. Sphynx may be breed to American Shorthair and domestic shorthair cats. The resulting kittens will have hair but can porduce "naked" kittens themselves and are still called Sphynx. They have all the traits of a naked Sphynx with the addition of hair. First generation outcrosses are refered to as F1's with each generation going up 1 number untill the offspring are hairless.

Lemar, our upcoming outcross male.

He is a F4 coming to us from Cindee Gause of PinUp cats.

Past Outcross Cats

Icicle is a white blue eyed American Short-hair who was used as outcross to increase the gene pool of the Sphynx breed. Outcross offspring are considered to be sphynx cats after the first crossing. The resulting offspring will be haired but carry the genes necessary to produce hairless kittens themselves.

Icicle came to us from Anna Du Pen and the Pendu Cattery in Bainbridge Island, WA. He has since moved to an American Shorthair breeder who works with white cats.
